"Women of Worth" Book Launch
Tuesday, 25th May 2010
At a glittering cocktail function attended by the wife of the
Governor of Western Australia, Mrs. Julie Michael, the Lord Mayor of
Perth, Mrs.Lisa Scaffidi, launched "WOMEN OF WORTH - A History of WIZO
in Western Australia".
The book, researched over many years by its authors Louise Hoffman
(pic left) and Miriam Landau (pic right), chronicles the story of the
establishment of WIZO in Western Australia. From the visit of Mrs.Ida Ben
Sion in 1937, which instituted WIZO and Rebecca Sieff, in 1948,
to consolidate the new group, WIZO has become a driving force in the Perth community.
The children and grandchildren of these remarkable women sponsored the book

WIZO WA Annual General Meeting
8th April 2010
WIZO WA honoured outstanding women at its Annual General
Meeting - women who find time in their busy lives to contribute to WIZO because
of their belief in the value of its work.
Estelle Lin (pic right) was made a Life Governor of Ahuzat Yeladim in recognition
of her many years as President of WIZO Aviva. Estelle's
devotion to the group and enormous effort are highly valued.
Robyn Lieblich (pic left) and Anne Levitt (pic right) were made Councillors
of Ahuzat Yeladim for their work with WIZO Golan and for maintaining the group's activities.
A special award of a Living Scholarship in his name was presented to Eli Karotkin.
Eli chose to link his Bar Mitzvah with WIZO and we thank him for his compassion and his
generosity.
Anne Topelberg OAM remains State President for another year.

Western Australian Parliamentarians
Visit Western Australia
During an intensive study mission to Israel organised by the Pratt Foundation,
eleven WA parliamentarians, including the Minister for Water and Mental Health,
the Minister for Corrective Services, the Deputy Oppostition Leader and the Shadow
Minister for Energy, visited WIZO Australia-sponsored Ahuzat Yeladim.
One Minister commented that "We have nothing like this in Australia - it's fantastic".

Happy Channukah, Carmel School, From Israel!
December 2009
Every year, WIZO makes beautiful Rosh Hashana cards for children in Israel with the help of
the primary school students at Carmel School.
Last week, the Carmel School children were excited to receive gorgeous Channukah cards from a
school in Ness-Ziona, Israel.
Anne Topelberg, WIZO WA State President, presented the cards to some of the classes at the
school. The cards will be displayed in the foyer for all students to see.
