Thirteen gorgeous candidates representing their WIZO Groups, along with family and friends, were astounded when WIZO Victoria President, Anita Bejerano, announced that this year's event had raised a staggering grand total of $313,982!
 
Following the Crowning Ceremony at the McKinnon Secondary College hall, all the children enjoyed a carnival and not even a wet Melbourne afternoon could dampen their spirits.

CELEBRATING A WIZO ICON'S 90th BIRTHDAY

Over 250 family, friends and community leaders gathered at the Florian Reception Centre to, not only celebrate World WIZO's 90th Anniversary, but also to pay tribute to WIZO icon, Ann Zablud OAM, on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
 
Mark Leibler AC, Anita Bejerano (WIZO Vic.Pres.) and Jo Gostin (WIZO Aust.Past-Pres.), along with a range of speakers including Ann's two children, paid tribute to Ann and her remarkable community work over some 70 years.

WIZO VICTORIA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Wednesday, 2nd December 2009
 
Guest Speaker at this year's Annual General Meeting was Adina Bankier-Karp (left), who captured the audience with her insightful talk on the “Spirit of Women”.
 
Ella Holcdorf (right), granddaughter of devoted WIZO Victoria member Rena Rabin, accompanied by Jonathan Skovron, performed a number of beautiful Hebrew songs.
 
The Rebecca Sieff Award was presented to the family of the late Irene Israel, with an emotional tribute to Irene being read by Paulette Cherny.
 
The Ann Zablud Community Award was presented to Emily Chrapot, while Marlis Cohen Youth Award went to Jesse Sharp. Both these young people were recognised for their outstanding work in the Jewish community.
