Dear Chaverot,
It was on 11 July 1920 that a group of active Zionist women led by Rebecca Sieff
established the Women's International Zionist Organization in London in order to
promote the welfare of women and children in Eretz Israel and to carry out specific
work in the reconstruction of Eretz Israel.
This remarkable group of Zionist women who dared to dream were successful in
motivating Zionist women all over the world to join them in making their Zionist
vision into WIZO reality.
The path paved by Rebecca Sieff and her peers was followed by all WIZO leaders:
Rosa Ginosar, Raya Jaglom, Michal Modai and Helena Glaser.
WIZO has grown, evolved, developed and maintained those very same principles and goals,
as perceived by Rebecca Sieff - serving the community in the broader meaning of
the word through 800 projects and services to members of all age groups in the
Israeli society.
Now as then, the driving force behind WIZO's 90 years of activity, fulfillment,
implementation and achievement are the dedicated WIZO Zionist volunteers in Israel
and in approximately 50 Jewish Communities worldwide. These are Zionist women who
chose to contribute from their time, energy and ability to benefit the society and
environment in Israel, while preserving the Jewish identity and tradition in their
communities.
WIZO has come a long way - but there are still many challenges ahead.

WIZO's Next Generation Day Care Centres will enable WIZO to maintain a high level
of education and ensure our Centres continue to provide the highest standard of child
care. WIZO will continue to provide subsidies for families in need, thus enabling them
to send their children to our Day Care Centres and allowing the parents to return to the
work force.
The newly refurbished Day Care Centres will include new playgrounds designed to meet the
requirements set by the Ministry of Education and Safety. Moreover, we aim to purchase new
furniture, fixtures and educational aids as well as completing a total refurbishment of the
classrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.
WIZO Australia is undertaking this important project of renovating our Day Care Centres,
thereby turning them into NEXT GENERATION DAY CARE CENTRES. We cannot do so without YOUR
support!
